The Scotts Head to Soufriere Estate Trail

Segment 1 of the Waitukubuli National Trail is 6.6 km south of the volcanic areas of the island of Dominica and can be completed in four (4) hours. It is now a very difficult hike which begins at Scotts Head Village and ends at the Soufriere Estate.
This trail is located in a crater of sulphur deposits, traverses a region once known for its natural attraction such as the Soufriere Sulphur Springs, historic sites namely Morne Kwabier Plateau, and the old ruins of a Coffee Estate.
It showcases the traditional livelihoods for active farms in Moppo. Other areas of interpretation on this segment include the Soufriere Marine Reserve.
Please note that the level of difficulty for this Segment has risen to Very Difficulty. The hiker is expected to rope climb as well as walk along a Gorge.

Beautiful hike! There’s a section of it that was closed but an alternate route has been set that allows hikers to complete the entire segment. This part of the trail is much more challenging but some ropes have been installed for safety.
